Congratulations to Bronagh Ryan (7), Tamati O'Hagan (2), Ben Walsh (6), Mia Uluilelata (3), Jack Plummer, Sophie Wilkinson and Josh Walsh (2) for setting new club records at the 2011 Wellington Summer Champs. Ben Walsh also set a new Wellington record in the boys 13 years 100 Breaststroke, the old record had stood for 15 years. Club records are here.
Wellington Summer Champs, January 2011
Congratulations to all those who swam at the Wellington Summer Champs over Anniversary weekend. PCA had many finalists and a fantastic medal haul, below is the list of all medalists, a HUGE well done to all! Special congratulations to Ben Walsh who was swimmer of his 13 yr age group.
Traditionally this has been an evening of fun races for the whole family. The programme includes piggy back races, a family relay (for teams of three - all members of the one family), crocodile races etc. There will be a kickboard race across the pool for the younger family members and an adults 50m sprint for those who wish to re-live their swimming days. It is hoped that most parents will take part. Apart from the 50m sprint, all other events are for non-swimmers – if your can walk in the pool carrying a child on your back – then we need you !!!!.
All families are asked to bring a plate of finger food. There will be a sausage sizzle. Sausages and orange drink will be supplied. This will be our final club night of 2010 – normal club nights resume on Monday January 31st 2011.
NZ Short Course Age Groups Champs, 26 to 30 Sept, WRAC
Congratulations goes to all of our team that competed at this years NZ Age Group Short Course Champs: who were Monica Saili(13), Christopher Andrews-Kidd(13), Hamish Trlin(13), Ben Walsh(13), Bronagh Ryan(), Tamati OHagan(14), and Josh Trlin(15).
Originally this meet was scheduled to be held in Christchurch over the 5 days from 26th to the 30th of September but after the recent earthquakes and associated damage it was hastily moved to Wellington, where it was held at the Wellington Regional Aquatic Centre (WRAC) in Kilbirnie.
The champs provided a number of excellent, exciting and record breaking swims.The team represented PCA well gaining many outstanding results. In total the team won 9 medals (3 Gold, 3 Silver and 3 Bronze), competed in 32 finals and achieved countless PBs. Ben Walsh and Bronagh Ryan were our standout performers in the pool winning all 9 medals between them. Fantastic swimming, congratulations to them both!

Three Fun Nights - Open to All Club Members
This is a team competition, run over three Monday nights (replacing normal club night and squad training). Everyone entering is put into one of six teams. Each team is managed by one or two of our older swimmers who organise their swimmers into their events, trying all the time to ensure everyone has a similar number of swims.
Swimmers- need to complete the entry list at the pool (list will be on noticeboards at both pools).

Final placings were 2nd place went to Sophie Wilkinson, 3rd place Molly Newton-Smith, 4th Skylaah Cruise, 5th Xavier Rapson and 6th Josh Trlin. Well done to all of you.
The Relay final was also keenly contested with the following results:
1st place was Team 5: Susannah Lynch, Latisha Leavai, Sarah Williams, Hayley Wilkins, Alex Coupe, Sayla Southee, Saasha Marsters and Hannah Aunoa.
2nd place was Team 6: Letitia Saunders, Olivia Aunoa, Grace Feite, Dalton Wilkins, Grace Hunter, Jessica Beddow, Joshua Nairne, Riley Crosbie, Helena Clarke and DJ Stapleton.
3rd place was Team 4: Aaron Lynch, Emma Bagley, Jordan Harris, Michael Sheppard, Katie Cameron, Matisse Uluilelata, Monica Saili, Kelsea Elkington, Jasmin Inglis-Matchett, Jennifer Grieg and Josh Walsh.

CLUB CHAMPS, Friday 21 May and Monday 24 May, 2010
Sign up now for the club champs being held over two nights, Friday 21 and Monday 24 May. There is a huge range of events and trophies to be won, you must enter prior to the event, for more details see the attached.
This meet was fast and furious, it took in total about 1.5 hours and with 38 PCA swimmers taking part, we were able to field teams in 9 of the relay events. Many of our swimmers swum PB's and all the relay teams performed outstandingly, so much so that we won the Paekakariki Shield for the top club in the relays and the Gold Coast Interclub Best Times Trophy for the the club with the most PB's on the night.
Thanks to all our swimmers, our Managers, Tania Donalson and Ondine Souter and all the others who officiated.

The great team of Hamish, Josh, Craig and Aaron combined brilliantly to place third in the Club Medley Relay (15 yrs and over) and 7th in the Freestyle Relay. The girls team of Nicole, Hayley, Brooke and Dannielle came 8th in 15 yrs and over Club Medley Relay.
Craig, Hayley and Nicole were also selected to represent Wellington in the Regional Relays, well done guys!

Dannielle Gaualofa, Daniel Albert, Hayley Andrews, Nicole Tait, Brooke Marsters, Aaron Lynch, Craig Stapleton, Ben Turner, Hamish Trlin and Josh Trlin.
Josh had the honour of reading the athletes oath at the Opening Ceremony which he did with great aplomb. PCA finished as the 6th club on the points table, (out of 82 clubs) and was the highest placed Wellington club.

who represented PCA at NAGS in Christchurch. Bronagh Ryan was our standout performer winning a silver medal in the 16 years 100 Breast, a bronze medal in the 200 Breast and a bronze medal as part of the Wellington freestyle relay team. Fantastic swimming Bronagh!

Hamish Trlin had a fantastic NZ Juniors meet winning the NZ 12 yrs boys 100 breast title, to go with National Silvers in the 50 br, 200 br, Bronze in the 200 IM, and bronzes with the Wellington Team in the free relay and medley relay, in the words of the champion himself "awesomest" Hamish! Christopher Andrews also performed outstandingly getting a National Bronze in the 12 yrs 50 free and also bronzes with Hamish in the Wellington team free and medley relays. Josh Walsh also came home with a medal with a National Silver in the 10 yrs 50 back.

Congratulations to all our awesome team who qualified for this prestigious meet, our team was:
Hamish Trlin, Chris Andrews, Monica Saili, Brooke Marsters, Simon Pask, Matisse Uluilelata, Katie Trott, Reegan Guaulofa, Josh Walsh, Mia Uluilelata.
A small, but talented group represented us at the Capital Sprint meet. The team ranged from Molly Newton Smith at 7yrs old to Bronagh Ryan at 16 yrs old. We compiled 11 PB's, with Molly and Chris Andrews achieving 3, closely followed by Katie Trott and Saasha Marsters with 2 each. Good swimming was had by the whole team which also included Hayley Andrews, Emily Laws, Nicola Trott, Matisse Uluilelata, Susannah Lynch, Kiwa and Tamati O'Hagan, Monica Saili and Lucy Newton Smith. The meet ended in a noisy highlight with Bronagh taking out the $100 cash prize in the Woman's skins event which was a great spectator sport, enjoyed by all (except maybe Bronagh who was recovering from an Athletics event and could hardly walk!!)
Our fantastic team performed really well at the 2010 Wellington Long Course Champs with great results. Standout performer was Ben Walsh who won an amazing 10 Golds, 4 Silvers and 1 Bronze and the prize for Swimmer of the Meet for 12 year old boys, Mia Uluilelata won her first ever Wellington Champs Gold medal in the 9 years 100 back, along with a silver in the 50 back. Josh Walsh and Nicole Mitchell were our other gold medalists with Nicole's win also gaining her the Open 200 metre breaststroke female swimmer of the Championship. Josh Walsh was second in the Swimmer of the Meet for 10 year old boys.
